Athlete Code of Conduct
At Without Limits – Team Galaxy, we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for all athletes. Participation in our programs requires adherence to the highest standards of behavior, integrity, and respect—on and off the field.
Athlete Responsibilities
All athletes are expected to:
Code of Conduct Infractions
Violations of this code will be reviewed by Without Limits – Team Galaxy and Special Olympics Illinois. Disciplinary action will be taken based on a good-faith belief that the action is in the best interest of the program and athlete safety.
Possible Disciplinary Actions:
Immediate Suspension
Immediate disciplinary action may be taken for serious infractions, at the sole discretion of Special Olympics Illinois or Without Limits – Team Galaxy. These include:
Illegal Conduct -- Engaging in any illegal or criminal activity—even if not formally charged.
Dangerous Behavior -- Actions that are inherently harmful to self or others, including:
Athlete Acknowledgement
To participate in Without Limits – Team Galaxy programming, all athletes must agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
Athlete Responsibilities
All athletes are expected to:
- Follow the Special Olympics Athlete Code of Conduct and Without Limits – Team Galaxy guidelines.
- Maintain high standards of conduct, including:
- Self-control and responsible decision-making
- Courtesy and good manners toward peers, coaches, and volunteers
- Avoid:
- Profane or abusive language
- Violent, disruptive, or dangerous behavior
- Harassment or any form of abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual)
- Abide by Special Olympics Illinois Official Sports Rules
- Refrain from using:
- Alcoholic beverages
- Cannabis or illegal substances
- Tobacco products
(This applies at all training sessions, competitions, and events)
- Steer clear of all illegal activities
- Uphold the Special Olympics Athlete Oath
Code of Conduct Infractions
Violations of this code will be reviewed by Without Limits – Team Galaxy and Special Olympics Illinois. Disciplinary action will be taken based on a good-faith belief that the action is in the best interest of the program and athlete safety.
Possible Disciplinary Actions:
- Warning
- Probation (typically for one sport season)
- Suspension from participation
- Expulsion from all Special Olympics programs and activities

- Violence
- Harassment
- Disruptive or unsafe behavior
- Practices or training sessions
- Competitions
- Any sanctioned Special Olympics event
