 Summer Games information should be out this week.

For coaches: All new and or renewing Class A’s can be completed at www.soill.org/class-a-registration. If you have Class A’s or Med Apps no longer with the agency, please let me know and I will have them removed. Importance of signing up prior to the sport starting: This last weekend we needed to change the location of practice at the last minute. Coaches notified all the athletes that were on the signup list and practice took place. An athlete showed up late and missed the practice. The athlete was not notified because the coaches did not know they wanted to take part in the sport. Parents: PLEASE sign up for the sport when Without Limits puts out the signup list or calls for athletes. Mark your calendar. Without Limits-Team Galaxy will be holding its first ever “Fishing Derby” on 10 August 2024. We will be conducting in Mascoutah from 10 to 2. Awards for most fish caught, biggest fish, smallest fish and many more. The Illinois Fish and Game will also hold some classes. It will be a partner or unified event. Parent’s & Athletes meeting We will be holding a parents’ and athletes’ meeting on 6 June 2024 (Thursday) at 6:00 at Scheve Park. The meeting will be for an hour and focus on these upcoming sports; Bocce (need to start in June), Volleyball (Will have to start in July), Flag Football (Will start in July), and Floor Hockey (Starts in August). We will also discuss coaches, needed equipment, uniforms, and behaviors. All coaches, chaperones, and volunteers must have a Class A registration on file with Special Olympics Illinois. If you have not already completed your Class A or your Class A is expiring soon or you have never done one, you will need to complete a new one as soon as possible. To do that, please go to https://www.soill.org/class-a-registration/. The registration is completed online and will only take 15 minutes or so to do. The registration has 3 parts: Concussion Awareness, Protective Behaviors, and a Background check. After you have completed the registration and receive your notice that it was approved (which will take a few weeks), please forward us a copy of that email showing you were approved. If you already have a Class A, please respond to this email with your name and date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY) so that we will have it in our records. If you plan on playing or coaching any of these sports, please attend the meeting. Athletics (Track and Field) Congrats to all the athletes who competed. Every athlete had personal records. Congrats to those who are advancing to State. More to come in the upcoming weeks. Next practice is on 8 May at 6:00. The weather looks good. Please bring your team shirt. We are making arrangements to get smaller sizes. Bocce We need all white shirts turned in ASAP. Pickleball The Missouri Special Olympics is starting Pickleball as one of their sports. For those who are interested, we can get some courts in St. Charles. It will be during our tennis season.
