🏐 GOLD MEDAL GLORY – TEAM GALAXY SPIKERS SHINE!

• This volleyball season was nothing short of a miracle for the Without Limits – Team Galaxy Spikers. More than a game, it was a lesson in courage, teamwork, and heart.
• Against all odds, with just six players, our Spikers battled their way to the State Championship and captured the Gold Medal in a thrilling, crowd-roaring finish!
• A huge thank you to our incredible coaches — Jon Borlin, Jennifer Miller, Mari Seper, Leslie Koth, Bob, Amanda Lutz, and Scott Davis — and to every parent and supporter who believed in the impossible.
• Special shout-out to Vinson McNamee for his selfless determination, playing through pain to help his team achieve greatness.

• Venue Coordinator – Secure venues for the recital and theater production.
• Costume Coordinator – Help select/order costumes for competition, recital, and the Shrek production; assist with payments. (Sewing skills a plus, not required.)

Region J will be hosting Coach Trainings in Basketball, Flag Football and Bowling on Sunday, November 9th at Scott AFB. 

• Basketball - 10 to 11 AM @ James Gym
• Flag Football - 11 to 12 @ Outside Base Track / if raining inside gym
• Lunch - 12 to 1 @ BX Food Court
• Bowling - 1 to 2 PM @ Stars and Strips Base Bowling Alley

🎳  Bowling Athletes!
2025 Regional Tournament Success!
Gold Medalists: Those who receive a Gold medal at the regionals will advance to the Sectional competition on October 26th at St. Clair Bowl, competing in traditional singles, ramps, doubles, teams, and Unified Doubles/Teams.

• Athletes who did not win gold may still participate in Unified Doubles or Teams at Sectionals. This will be the last year this option is available (This option does not qualify for Young Athletes)
• Practice Schedule: Those advancing to Sectionals will continue to practice on Sundays at 6:00 PM at Bel Air Bowl, with the next practice on Sunday, October 5.

We would love to see as many of our bowling team members as possible at the Without Limits - Team Galaxy banquet on October 4th. It will be a fun night celebrating all of you and your accomplishments! Register here.

2025 Regional Tournament Success!
We are so proud of all our athletes and are looking forward to continuing with many of you for Sectionals! Attached are the results for our bowlers.

Gold Medalists: Those who receive a Gold medal at the regionals will advance to the Sectional competition on October 26th at St. Clair Bowl, competing in traditional singles, ramps, doubles, teams, and Unified Doubles/Teams. Athletes who did not win gold may still participate in Unified Doubles or Teams at Sectionals. This will be the last year this option is available (This option does not qualify for Young Athletes)

Practice Schedule: Those advancing to Sectionals will continue to practice on Sundays at 6:00 PM at Bel Air Bowl, with the next practice on Sunday, September 21st.

We would love to see as many of our bowling team members as possible at the Without Limits - Team Galaxy banquet on October 4th. It will be a fun night celebrating all of you and your accomplishments! Register here.

Our girls' volleyball team recently held a fantastic clinic with the Without Limits Team Galaxy's volleyball team! Everyone enjoyed skill development and scrimmaging. A big thank you to all the participants for making it a memorable day!

With the extreme heat effecting sport schedules this week, please check your email, Facebook or contact your coach directly before you leave for any practice or event to confirm it is still happening.  

👉 As always, please stay hydrated, take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas, and follow all heat safety protocols. Your well-being is our top priority.

3. Completed WLTG Waiver & Release

📢 Bowling Practice

• Bowling will continue this Sunday @ August 17th @ 6:00PM at the Bel Air Bowl
• Please let Coach Lisa or Mari know if your athlete will not be there.  
• Interested in helping or to be a unified partner, you will need to get registered as a Special Olympics Class A Volunteer

⛳ Golf Practice

• Golf practice will be this Thursday, August 14th | Orchards Golf Course
• Be aware of possible weather cancelation due to excessive heat / Stay hydrated!

• Practice on Tuesday,  August 12th | Tuesday @ 5:45 to 6:45PM 
• Practice will be held at large field @ 8012 Savannah Hills Blvd, OFallon, IL

🥎 Softball Practice (NEW LOCATION)

• Mondays @ 6PM held at Shiloh Field B in the Shiloh Community Park.
  • It is located behind the Shiloh Senior Center that is located at 7 Park Drive Shiloh, IL 62269.   
  • The field is on the other side of Seibert Road.
• Be aware of possible weather cancelation due to excessive heat / Stay hydrated!
• State: September 6 (if qualified)

• Competitive & Modified Volleyball Practice this Wednesday, Aug. 13 @ 6PM & 7PM | Leu Civic Center
• Skills Volleyball Practice is canceled for this week. 
  We will return be this Thursday  Aug. 21 @ 6PM & 7PM | Leu Civic Center
• Regionals - Region I Volleyball Tournament will be Sunday, September 28th at the Millikin University at 1184 W Main St, Decatur, IL 62522.  Skills, Competitive and Modified teams will all be included.

🎯 Family Fun Night - Country Western Themed Dance 

• Date:  Friday, August 8, 2025 -- 6:00 - 9:00pm
• Place:  Moose Lodge 1221 at 2425 N. Illinois Street, Swansea, IL
• Meal will be Pulled Pork, Chips and Cole Slaw
• We ask that each attendee bring either a dessert or school supplies to donate to the Moose Lodge.
  • Need volunteers to bring desserts for this event.
  • The Moose is also looking for donations of school supplies for local elementary school students.
    School supplies they are looking for: #2 pencils, pink erasers, wide-ruled notebooks, Crayola markers and colored pencils, glue sticks, etc.
• Meal is only for Special Olympic eligible attendees. Parents and guardians will not be served a meal.
• Must be Registered to Attend - Sign Up Here - (REGISTRATION CLOSES ON THURSDAY, August 7th)
• Free to Without Limits 2025 Paid Members -- $5.00 for Non-Members
  NO ATTENDEE (ATHLETE, PARENT, GUARDIAN OR SIBLING) IS PERMITTED INTO THE BAR AREA OF THE MOOSE LODGE UNLESS THEY ARE A PAID MOOSE MEMBER

👥 Finance Committee Meeting - September 4th

• Finance Committee approved the purchase of new footballs for flag football, new volleyballs for Skills, and new chest protector and batting tee for softball.
• Finance Committee elected to move to a bi-monthly meetings vs. quarterly to allow for great efficiency.
• Our next meeting has been scheduled for Thursday Sept 4th from 6:30-8:30.
