What an incredible weekend at the 2025 Summer Games! We are filled with gratitude for Special Olympics Illinois (SOILL) and their outstanding efforts in making this year’s Summer Games such a resounding success. From start to finish, our athletes were treated like VIPs—with every detail thoughtfully planned. 🚍 Seamless Transportation SOILL provided a full fleet of shuttle buses, ensuring athletes, families, and fans could travel between venues with ease. Whether heading to sports events, the dining hall, or Opening Ceremonies—there was always a shuttle ready. Dorm participants never had to wait, with at least two buses available at all times. No parking worries—just smooth, stress-free transportation! 🎉 A Spectacular Opening Ceremonies' The Opening Ceremonies were absolutely unforgettable!
👏 Shout-out to our Parade Representatives: Josie Kelly, Ava Lutz, Mia Koth, Terika, and coaches Amanda Lutz. 💙 Olympic Town Presence The SO Cheer Team not only performed but also hosted a booth at Olympic Town! Over the weekend, WLTG had more than 50 athletes competed, supported by a number of coaches, assistants and families, making this years Summer Games a joyous, but very hot event. Unfortunately, a number of outdoor athletic events and activates were canceled mid-day Saturday as the temps soared into the mid-90s.

Events / Activities / UpdatesWLTG Organizational Announcement We would like to inform our members that a leadership transition has occurred within Without Limits – Team Galaxy. Rich Crothers has stepped down from his position as Special Olympics Athletics Director (SOAD), and we extend our sincere thanks for his years of service and dedication to our athletes. Amanda Lutz has been named to serve as SOAD effective immediately. In this role, Amanda will oversee athlete registrations, Center of Excellence Portal (CoE), coach certifications, event coordination, and serve as the primary liaison with Special Olympics Illinois. We are also pleased to announce that Mari Seper will lead the Sports Committee, working closely with Amanda to support the planning, communication, and coordination of our athletic programs. Please join us in welcoming Amanda and Mari into their new leadership roles. We’re excited for their teamwork and commitment as we continue to build a strong and supportive environment for all of our athletes and families. Summer Games Will be held in two weeks on 20 June. Information and schedules are now being shared online and by your direct coaches.

Coaches Training Region J will be holding a coaches training session on 16 July. Most activities will be held inside to avoid the heat or rain. There will be special sessions for Basketball, Volleyball, Bocce, softball and track. Coaches this is an opportunity to get your certification in your sport you coach. Requirements for Special Olympics Sports at WLTG There are three steps that need to be done / accomplished before joining Without Limits-Team Galaxy (WLTG) Sports or prior to their first practices.
Sports Committee Needs You! The Without Limits-Team Galaxy Sports Committee is looking for any parent or coach that would like to be on the community. We would address Special Olympics sports, coaching and assuring we have the right equipment. If interested in part of the committee, please contact Mari Seaper WTLG Upcoming Sports We will be starting an interest for the following sports real soon; tennis, golf and softball. Plane Pull Thank You A huge thanks to the athletes and cheer team for representing WLTG and raising over $650 for the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. This was the first ever Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run Southern Plane Pull ✈️ where not only athletes and cheerleaders, but law enforcement officers from across Illinois are coming together to support our athletes in a powerful way. A total of over $20,000 was raised at the event. 2025 Membership Dues are Due We have a number of unpaid sports Membership Fees that have not been paid. This month’s athlete is Stacey Morgan. Stacey was born in Paris (Paris, Tennessee) on 13 February 1978. He has lived in three states (Tennessee, Kansas and Illinois). Stacey joined PTOEC and Special Olympics when he was 8 years old. He has participated in: Track and Field (softball throw, 50 yd. dash), Basketball, Soccer, Bowling and Golf. )ver the years, he has become more and more interested in the team sports. Over the last 23 years, he has earned more medals than his family and friends can count. Stacey attended Belleville East High School. He currently works in the dining hall, “Nightingale,” for Challenge Unlimited out of Alton, at Scott Air Force Base. He has been working through Challenge for over 10 years. Stacey has a strong repetition of being a hard worker and friendly to everyone at work. Stacey loves to listen to any kind of music, especially “Aero Smith.” He enjoys watching the local sports teams (Cardinals, Rams and Blues) and college sports (Football and Basketball.) He loves all type of scary movies (Friday the 13 th, Nightmare on Elm Streets & Halloween series.) He loves being outdoors and chasing “rabbits.” Stacey is the true social butterfly and loves spending time with family and friends. He loves parties and holidays and playing the Wii. He enjoys hanging out with friends like Todd and Rusty. Stacey’s mom, Marcia, live in O’Fallon, IL. Stacey also has a brother named Scott. He also enjoys the Fun Nights. Stacey was awarded the prestigious honor in 2007 of “Honorary Coach” of the Belleville Futbol Clubs (BFC) Under 15 boys by the members of the BFC U 15 squad. Every game he stood on the side lines that year the team came away with a victory. His demeanor always gave the players joy. He also loves attending and watching the BFC soccer teams. His success in soccer also includes winning over seven Illinois Special Olympics state championship over the years. Stacey is a beam of light for all he comes in contact with him. New Announcement from Rich I want to extend an invite to all of Without Limits-Team Galaxy parents and athletes to come out and cheer for one of our coaches. Chloe (track and soccer coach) will be running her 2 mile race for regionals at Mascoutah High School at approximately 4:00 on 15 May (Thursday). Currently, she is ranked in the state for this event. Golf 2025 Without Limits Team Galaxy Golf will begin Thursday May 1st at the Orchards Golf Course at 6pm. The practices will last 1 hour and will be held every Thursday at 6pm. Soccer Teams & Skills Congrats goes out to all the to all the soccer athletes. Without Limits-Team Galaxy saw all of skill athletes secure golds and will be going to state. Both teams won Regionals with golds. It also seen every player from the Shooting Stars get a goal in each game.
