Parent’s meeting will be held on 19 February at 6:30 at the Mascoutah High School track.
If we have bad weather, we will meet at Scheve Park on the pavilion near the train.
It is my hope to get some new players for this upcoming season.
Assessments/Practices:
Assessments will be held on will be starting on 25 February and 27 February at 6:00.
Assessments for teams and skills will be conducted on those days.
Practices will be decided at parent’s meetings. It will be either Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Skills will be held on one of those days by themselves so we have focus for the athletes that are being developed.
Paperwork sent into Region J to show intent for two teams.
Without Limits-Team Galaxy will be holding a mini-tournament in soccer on 22 March at Mascoutah High School to get the required games need for regionals and state.
We may play other tournaments or game as they come available.
Regionals will be held on 27 April at Triad High School in Troy.
Entries will be turn in by 19 March. State Summer Games will be held in Bloomington on 20-22 June 2025.
ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND QUALIFIERS AND STATE GAMES.
Additional Information
Athletes must declare if they are doing skills or teams. Athlete must also declare if they are playing another sport before they are assigned to a team. An athlete cannot compete at Summer Games in two sports. An example is swimming and assigned on a relay team. They will not be assigned to the soccer team. They will be able to practice but will not be able to compete at competitions.
Athletes will also adhere to the Without Limits-Team Galaxy Sports Participation Policy
Equipment:
It is mandatory for players to wear shin guards at all practices and games. This is required by Special Olympics. Shin guards should cover the shin from about one inch below the knee and one inch from the ankle. The best have been stamped with an NCAA/FIFA certification on the inside. Players in the past have worn equipment that puts their safety into question.
I am also asking for each player to bring their own ball with their name on it and water to every practice. (We will have some at practices but we have limited equipment) They should dress appropriate for the weather. For new players that may not know, you are not required to have soccer cleats. Turf shoes (recommended), indoor soccer shoes or good running shoes are perfect to play in for all the games we will play in this upcoming year.
Need for coaches:
Please note Without Limits-Team Galaxy will be looking for assistant coaches to assist with skills and the teams. This will assure we have a 4-1 ratio for teams and 1-1 for skills. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Rich Crothers at [email protected]. Assistant coaches will have to have a Class A on file and complete a couple blocks of training before they are assigned as assistant coaches.
I believe Without Limits-Team Galaxy is clearly one of the best organizations in the state that serves your Special Olympics athletes, and hopefully by them playing soccer they will see this first hand. I know I am extremely proud to be part of this program and hopefully we can share the special opportunities that Without Limits soccer offer to these athletes.
Coaches: Rich Crothers and Floyd Schwartz.
